    Richard created the most famous and popular collectible card game Magic: The Gathering, which was published in 1993 by the game company Wizards of the Coast. Richard’s game brings a lot of money. In 1995, over 500 million cards were sold. In 1997, the computer game Magic: The Gathering (MicroProse) was created. In 2003, more than 6 million people around the world are playing. For players this is not just a game, it’s philately. The cost of some cards reaches $ 30,000.

    After 2000, Richard left Wizards of the Coast to become an independent developer. In 2008, he published his digital card game Spectromancer. For strange reasons, very similar to the Hearthstone in 2014.

    The only popular digital CCG was Hearthstone, with its incredible fan base. The main Magic fans preferred a paper version, since paper cards had real value.

    Players who have an expensive collection do not benefit from switching to a PC. The spectromancer was made by rather weak technologies of that time, and he did not have a fan base. All CCG for computer at that time did not have the opportunity to trade digital cards between players. As a result, players bought digital cards from developers and could not sell them. As in the Hearthstone.

    Richard’s attempts to make a computer game say that in the future card games have little chance. Now Richard Garfield works with Valve, and he has all the trumps that will make a truly collectible card game!

    The spectromancer game is good, but it definitely lacked a good technical composition and design.
